Amiloride HCl dihydrate is an effective inhibitor of sodium ion channels in epithelial cells. To preserve potassium and diuretics, it acts on the distal tubules of the kidney, blocking the sodium potassium exchange mechanism, promoting the excretion of sodium and chloride, and reducing the secretion of potassium and hydrogen ions. The effect does not depend on aldosterone. It itself promotes urinary sodium excretion and has reduced anti hypertensive activity, but when combined with thiazide or loop diuretics, it has a synergistic effect.Note: Product information may be optimized and upgraded.
